FAQs
Some questions I get asked about paper bead jewelry:
1. How do you make a bead from paper? I posted an entry that kind of does a step-by-step walk through of the process...from cutting the paper, to rolling it, to glazing the bead. That's the best answer I can give to this question! It's not hard to do, but it is quite time-consuming!
2. What kind of paper do you use? The majority of my beads are made with pages from magazines because they are often the most colourful source of paper. But I have also used scrapbook paper, and pages from books. The thinner the paper, the smaller the bead; the thicker the paper, the bigger and chunkier the bead.
3. Are the beads waterproof? I do glaze the beads, which gives them a nice coat of protection; however, I definitely advise that they are water resistant, not waterproof. I wear my bracelets while washing my hands or doing dishes, but take them off if I know they'll be submerged in water for a longer period of time.
4. Do you do custom orders? I have done a lot of custom orders, but sometimes I do decline requests. If people request a custom bracelet using a specific book for beads, I will certainly make it if I have a copy of the book to use. Or if someone requests specific colours, I will do that if I know I have those colours available. So if you have a specific request, feel free to ask! If I can do it, I will; if not, I'll let you know. :)
